Through archiving, artist Kong Yiu-wing look to trace and record the formation and evolution of the Hongkonger identity that is becoming a major topic of public discourse in recent years, especially after the social movement in Hong Kong in 2019. Items are donated to Kong by visitors who wish to participate in this long term art project. Kong will take any items that is smaller than an average adult, digital or tangible. In Kong’s archive is a section labelled “Unknown”, the content and criteria of which, he says, is open for interpretation, just as the definition of what constitutes a “Hongkonger”.
