Following the 2019 anti-government protests in Hong Kong, the Donald Trump government has banned the import of goods labeled "Made in Hong Kong" to enter the US. This is part of a series of actions taken to remove US preferential treatment towards Hong Kong, after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declared the region is no longer autonomous from China.
Goods exported to the US shall, from November 9th onwards, be labeled "Made in China" instead. We asked a soy sauce maker, a fashion designer, and a crystal manufacturer how much this policy actually affect their export businesses, and the extent of the implications.
